Every month, Julep opens the window between the 20th and 25th of the month for you to pick out exactly what you want in your Maven box for the next month. I am always super excited to pick out my Maven box each month, so I never forget about the Maven Reveal window … well, I did forget about it once a few months ago, and then I forgot about it again this month. I guess I was a little too busy at the end of this month, so I didn’t even check my e-mail for like a full week.
So, if you don’t customize your box you get the default box based on the style profile that you chose when you signed up for the program. My style profile is “Bombshell” so, instead of a heavily customized box (which is what I usually do), I got the basic “Bombshell” box this month. I’m definitely happy with the items that I got, and I love the two nail colors, I just wish that I remembered the Maven Reveal window so I could have added-on extra products. There is absolutely no way that I’m going to forget to choose my products for next month’s Maven box!
Julep debuted two brand-new mascaras this month– the Length Matters High-Impact Mascara (the one I received, pictured above), and the Go Big Volumizing Mascara. I probably would have found the volumizing mascara more useful since my lashes are so sparse (although they have been growing in a lot better lately), but the lengthening mascara has definitely been living up to its name. I’ve been wearing it every day since I received my Maven box last week, and I’m really liking it so far. It’s not my favorite mascara ever, but it’s definitely been getting the lengthening job done without the clumpiness, and it lasts pretty much all day.
Julep Length Matters High-Impact Mascara ($26/$20.80 for Mavens for 0.34 oz.; julep.com) is made with a finely tapered, micro-bristle brush that “layers on more and more mascara for a softly curled, wide-eyed” lengthening look.
Julep’s collection for November, The Friendsgiving Collection, included the two new mascaras, plus nine new nail colors in really pretty festive fall shades. I love the two colors I received (above), but there are a few others I probably would have added to my box this month if I didn’t forget about the Maven reveal window! These are the two “Bombshell” box colors of the month.
Julep Nail Color in Fazia ($14/$11.20 for Mavens for 0.27 oz.; julep.com) is described as a “liquid garnet” with a shimmer finish. It is formulated with Julep’s “breakthrough Oxygen Technology” that provides for a faster-drying and longer-lasting nail color while allowing 30% more oxygen to permeate the nail bed than other polish. Like all Julep nail colors, this shade is “5-Free” — it contains no formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, DBP or camphor. It is also “vegan-friendly.”
Julep Nail Color in Jessie ($14/$11.20 for Mavens for 0.27 oz.; julep.com) is described as a “deep Kalamata” shade with a crème finish. It is a super dark brownish-purple — I love this color for the fall! This shade is also formulated with Julep’s Oxygen Technology, and it is also “5-Free” and vegan-friendly.
Subscription Box Breakdown:
I loved the nail colors I received this month and I am really liking Julep’s new lengthening mascara so far. I wish I remembered the Maven reveal window so I could have added more items onto my box this month, especially some more nail colors because this month’s collection had some super pretty shades. Even though I didn’t customize my box this month I’m definitely still happy with the basic “Bombshell” box that I received 🙂
