Hello everyone and happy New Year! I might be a little late with the new year’s wishes but this is actually my first post of 2015 so the wishes seemed appropriate. I’ve had so much going on lately that it was hard to find time to blog, but now that my work life has calmed down I plan on writing posts a lot more consistently.
I have a ton of products to review and new stuff to blog about, but I received my Julep Maven box for February last Friday so I decided to get this one up first. A lot of people review the same monthly subscription boxes so I wanted to get this post up before it gets stale.
Julep’s collection for February, the Afterglow Collection, included nine new nail colors and Julep’s new Glow Highlighting Powder and fan brush. There was also an extra brand-new nail polish for Valentine’s Day in every Maven box this month, plus some new featured add-ons for the month that you can add to your box for an extra cost.
There are four different Maven box styles each month that usually features two new nail colors plus the new beauty product for the month. Each box is customizable so you can swap out nail colors and choose exactly which ones you want from that month’s collection. My base box included Julep’s new highlighting powder and I chose the two nail colors pictured above.
I actually really loved this highlighting powder and it’s one of my favorites already. A little bit goes a longggg way so a tiny bit applied with a fan brush is the perfect amount. I didn’t get Julep’s new fan brush this month but I might order it at some point since I love Julep’s makeup (and eyeshadow) brushes.
Julep Glow Highlighting Powder ($28 or $22.40 for Maven subscribers for 0.42 oz.; julep.com) is described as a “multi-tasking marvel designed to play up light and play down wrinkles, discoloration and pores” with light-diffusing diamond powder and vitamin B6. It also contains Julep’s exclusive Power Cell Complex to deliver essential nutrients to the skin, keep hydration locked in and provide anti-aging benefits.
Julep Nail Color in Hazel ($14 or $11.20 for Maven subscribers for 0.27 oz.; julep.com) is described as a “wild violet and bronze duochrome” shade in a metallic/chrome finish. I haven’t tried this one out yet but it looks super pretty!
Julep Nail Color in Elise ($14 or $11.20 for Maven subscribers for 0.27 oz.; julep.com) is described as an “indigo with purple microshimmer” in a shimmer finish. I thought the purple microshimmer would be a lot more noticeable in this shade but when I applied it it looks a lot more indigo and less of that shimmery color that you see in the bottle. It’s still pretty nonetheless but I really thought it was going to be a more noticeable multi-dimensional color.
This pretty heart glitter top coat came as a special extra in this month’s Maven box. It’s a perfect top coat for Valentine’s Day and it looks really pretty over a light color (I love it over whites or light pinks). I wish I got a better photo because you can’t really see the hearts too well in this picture but there’s a lot of them in the bottle and they come out pretty easily. I was even able to get the hearts out by themselves so you can use them individually as a nail decoration on each nail.
Julep Nail Color in Hartleigh ($14 or $11.20 for Maven subscribers for 0.27 oz.; julep.com) is described as a “holographic heart glitter topcoat” with a glitter finish.
Each month you can choose extra items to add-on to your Maven box for an additional cost and if you order three or more Julep will send you a free gift. Lately Julep has also been releasing some new and exclusive products for the month as add-ons, so this month I decided to go with the nail polish in Julep’s newest “Fizzy” finish and these cute heart nail stickers, which I’m pretty sure was an exclusive add-on just for the month of February. I also added Julep’s Luxe Lip Treatment to my box because I’m in love with this lip formula — I received the dark berry color with last month’s Maven box and I really wanted to try out this sheer pink as well.
I definitely couldn’t pass up this reddish-pinkish shade in Julep’s newest “fizzy” nail finish. It’s a little more pink and a little less red than it looks in the above photo — I think it’s a really cool, fun color.
Julep Nail Color in Ada ($14 or $11.20 for Maven subscribers for 0.27 oz.; julep.com) is described as a “bright rhubarb fizzy” in a fizzy/glitter finish.
These last two nail colors were the freebies added to my box because I took three add-ons this month. I love that Julep sent out two colors instead of just one and I love the added element of a surprise gift in my box 🙂
Julep Nail Color in Queen Anne ($14 or $11.20 for Maven subscribers for 0.27 oz.; julep.com) is described as a “lilac confetti microglitter” with a glitter finish. This is Julep’s 3rd birthday color and I remember wanting to get it at the time it was released so I’m happy I received it as an extra this month!
Julep Nail Color in Tatiana (Currently on sale for $4.99 for 0.27 oz.; julep.com) is described as a “golden burnt orange microglitter” with a shimmer finish. I haven’t tried this one out yet but it looks pretty cool and I actually don’t have many colors like this one — I’m usually not a fan of orange polishes but this golden shade is one that I will definitely wear.

I loved my Maven box this month and I loved how I got not one but two freebies for choosing three add-ons. I am especially loving Julep’s new highlighting powder and I’ve been using it every day since I received it 🙂
