This was one of the first months that I just chose a regular Julep Maven box without adding on any additional products — mostly because this was the first month that I got a Maven box for FREE (yay!) with my Julep points (called “Jules”). I’ve used Julep points on other things before, but I realized during the September Maven reveal (at the end of last month) that I actually had 2,000 Jules saved up, and, as any Maven should know, 2,000 Jules = one free Maven box.
If I had added any add-ons this month I would have had to pay extra for those, so I kept it simple and stuck with the bare minimum (three items) so I wouldn’t have to pay anything. I ended up being pleasantly surprised when I saw an extra polish added to my box anyway — every Maven received the new Julep signature cream color, aptly named “Julep”, as a freebie this month. So awesomeness all around 🙂
Each month Julep debuts a new beauty product or an update on one of their existing beauty products as part of the monthly Maven reveal. This month Julep came out with a few new colors for their Light On Your Lips lipstick line, making the lipsticks the featured beauty product for September. I really liked this lipstick the first time it came out so I was happy seeing additional colors added. I went with a couple bright colors last time, so I decided to order a more neutral color this time around.
Julep Light On Your Lips Full Coverage Crème Lipstick ($22 or $17.60 for Maven subscribers, 0.12 oz.; julep.com): A full-coverage lipstick that “floats on and feels weightless”, formulated with hydrating shea butter, antioxidant-rich botanical extracts, and Julep’s Power Cell Complex™. This lipstick promises to glide on easily to hug the contours of your lips and stay in place without feathering and it comes in 15 different shades. I received this lipstick in the color “Wink”, which is described as a “Tea rose crème.”
These were the two nail colors I chose this month from the new September collection. You would think by now that I wouldn’t need any more nail polishes — being subscribed to Julep Maven for at least the last year-and-a-half — but each month there always seems to be new nail shades that I absolutely need (of course). 🙂 I probably should have posted swatches of how these look on my nails … I will definitely remember to do that next month though!
Julep Nail Color in “Ellis” ($14 reg., on sale right now for $10, 0.27 oz.; julep.com): A shimmery silver-y lilac that Julep describes as a “pink dawn linear liquid holographic” shade.
Julep Nail Color in “Zoey” ($14 reg. or $11.20 for Maven subscribers, 0.27 oz.; julep.com): A pretty blue-grayish “sea spray crème” shade.
The last item this month was a special extra added to every Julep Maven box for free. I’m not sure why, but this color is currently unavailable to buy. I don’t know if it’s sold out, or if Mavens just got a sneak peek and it won’t actually be released until later on.
Julep Nail Color in “Julep” ($14 reg., currently unavailable, 0.27 oz.; julep.com): This is Julep’s new signature creme — a really pretty purple-ish orchid shade. This went on beautifully and the finish almost made it look like a gel manicure. I’m really glad I got to try this one out!
Subscription Box Breakdown:
I really liked the September Julep Maven box and the best part about it, of course, was that I got it completely for free. Julep actually has a really great points program and I feel like I was able to save up 2,000 Jules rather quickly, especially since I got points for every monthly Maven box that I bought. The nail colors this month were great and I absolutely loved the surprise gift this month — Julep’s new signature creme shade. I also was happy to see new lipstick colors this month and I’m loving the nude pink-y peach that I chose.
