ZENMED Skincare, from left to right: Facial Cleansing Gel, Renewing Microdermabrasion Complex (top), Skin Eraser (bottom), Botanical Acne Mask (top), Acne Gel (bottom), and Oil-Free Day Lotion

Okay, so I received these ZENMED products months ago to review and between work and school I haven’t really had the time to blog as much as I would like to. Now that I switched my schedule up, I finally have the time to blog near full-time (I’m still in school, too). The other reason I waited so long was because my skin has been crazy over the last few months and it’s been severely dry, very breakout-y, and, when I first tried these products, they weren’t working the way that I think they should have.

So, anyway, I received six products to review and, even though I still haven’t really used the products as much as I would have liked to before writing up the review, I just wanted to (finally) get this post up. Many of these products are the type that you need to use for at least a few days to see real results, but I think I got at least a general feel for them and I’m happy that my skin is normal again so I can finally use whatever products I want.

My skin was near-perfect — I never really had any problems, no matter what products I used — so it was a little difficult for me to adjust this winter to a completely different skin type. I’m happy I’m now pretty much back to normal and I’m going to be using these ZENMED products especially over the next few weeks because, at the very least, they are extremely promising.

ZENMED products are described as “doctor formulated”, holistic skincare that merges “functioning naturals” with “proven medicinal actives.” All of their products contain potent formulations for “immediate and dramatic results.” They have so many different products, (including moisturizers, scrubs, serums, cleansers, and more) for a number of different skin types and concerns, ranging from acne and rosacea, to scars, anti-aging, and sun protection. It would pretty much be impossible to not find a product that’s right for your skin on the ZENMED website.

ZENMED products are Vegan and 100% cruelty-free, and they are also free of dyes, fragrances, sulfates, and petrochemicals. Their packaging is 100% recyclable and organically sourced ingredients are used whenever possible. I thought it was necessary to give a little overview of the company since their natural, medicinal formulations, and cruelty-free products are such a huge part of their brand.

ZENMED Oil-Free Day Lotion

The first product is this oil-free daily moisturizer. I used this lotion a few times when I first got it, and I liked it, but I knew my friend Natalia would get more use out of it so I passed it along to her and it worked well for her. This lotion is more for combination-oily skin types, and, even when I was breaking out more over the winter, my skin still wasn’t oily … it was very DRY. Way drier than ever. For those who breakout and have OILY skin (or really for anyone who doesn’t have dry skin), this lotion should work very well. It even has “special mattifying agents” to “keep greasy skin under control for 24 hours,” and it won’t interact with other acne treatments.

ZENMED Oil-Free Day Lotion ($24.95 for 2.5 oz.; zenmed.com) is described as a “water-based, lightweight moisture lotion” created for oily to combination skin types. It contains “micro-mattifying agents” to help control oil levels “while providing healing moisture,” and it will not clog pores or cause shine. This moisturizer contains “high concentrations” of Vitamins B5 and E, which “leave the skin feeling and looking supple and nourished,” and it is ideal for use on sensitive skin, or even after an exfoliation treatment. It is described as a “soothing, neutral pH moisturizer” that can be used as often as needed.

Like I said — extremely promising product with great ingredients. I liked the way this moisturizer felt on my skin, but it really wasn’t the best choice for me because I need more of a hydrating moisturizer than one that’s supposed to control oil levels and mattify skin. I still felt hydrated after using it, but there are moisturizers out there that are much better for my normal-to-dry skin type. My friend, who has more oily skin, found that this worked very well, so I would definitely recommend it to people with sensitive, oily-combination skin.

ZENMED Derma Cleanse Acne Gel

Okay, so THIS stuff is good for anybody at all who ever gets breakouts (which is pretty much everyone). A little bit of this gel goes a long way, and I love using it as a spot treatment. I’ll apply a tiny bit of this gel on a breakout at night and it will be almost completely gone by the next morning (or at least it seems to drastically shrink the zit). I’ve used a bunch of similar blemish serums, and this one was one of the best I have tried, plus it comes in a huge bottle (2 ounces), so it will definitely last for awhile.

ZENMED Derma Cleanse Acne Gel ($24.99 for 2 oz.; zenmed.com) is described as a “highly-absorptive, dual-acid Acne treatment gel” that was created to “heal pimples faster, prevent skin damage, and clear your overall complexion.” When applying this gel to breakout areas, you can expect “a far quicker healing time than by leaving the skin untreated,” and by increasing this healing time, ZENMED says that you will prevent the inflammation process from causing unneeded damage to the skin, which could lead to scarring. This gel also “prevents new Acne from forming by preventing excessive build-up of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin.”

This gel definitely worked for me and I saw near-instant results. Any product that produces results so quickly always gets an A in my beauty book.

ZENMED Dermacleanse Acne Mask & Spot Treatment

I passed this next product along to the same friend that I gave the day cream to because I found that, like the day cream, it wasn’t the best formulation for my normal-dry skin, especially over the last few months when my skin was extra super dry. I was actually a little disappointed that I couldn’t use it because it’s a multitasking, dual-purpose product (my favorite kind of product), that can be used as a mask AND a spot treatment for breakouts.

My skin was so whacky this winter and I have never really dealt with the issues that I had ever in my life before, so I wasn’t really sure what products would work well, and a lot of the stuff I tried out was very trial-and-error. ZENMED has plenty of other multitasking products that would work well for people like me with a more dry skin type, but this product just irritated my (super dry) skin a little too much so I couldn’t really use it.

ZENMED Dermacleanse Acne Mask & Spot Treatment ($24.95 for 4 oz.; zenmed.com) is described as a “Montmorillonite-clay based Acne treatment that helps heal pimples fast and prevent excessive oil buildup on the skin.” You can apply this product as a mask to affected areas to clarify pores and help draw impurities out, or you can use it as a spot treatment to reduce the severity of redness and inflammation and speed up healing. Like I said, I’m a little disappointed this product didn’t work for me because it sounds so promising, but I bet it works perfectly for those with more oily skin types.

ZENMED Renewing MicroDermabrasion Complex

Now that my skin is finally back to normal, I am able to use this scrub and I am loving it. I’m not going to lie, this stuff can be a bit harsh, and that’s why I really wasn’t able to use it when my skin was a lot more sensitive and breakout-y over the winter months (it really irritated my skin and made me a lot more red/inflamed), but now that my skin is normal again, I am so happy I am able to use it. ZENMED suggests that you only start off by using this once or twice a week; once you get a feel for how it works with your skin type you can up the usage gradually and then end up using it for five days on, and then five days off.

ZENMED Renewing Microdermabrasion Complex ($39.99 for 4 oz.; zenmed.com) is described as a “granular formulation” based in a “mineral-heavy clay” that is “designed specifically to provide intensive dermabrasion on the surface of the skin,” without leaving any greasy residue. This is one of ZENMED’s top-selling products (no surprise here), as it smooths out dull, flaky skin, making it feel immediately “rejuvenated and smooth.” It doesn’t contain any soaps, so it won’t leave skin feeling dry and dehydrated, and it will make skin glow and more plump.

This product is one of those products where the more you use it, the more results you will see, and it is ideal to use it before using serums or moisturizers, especially ZENMED’s Skin Eraser (below), because it “allows for better penetration of actives.” Now that my skin is cleared up, I’m excited to use this more, especially with the Skin Eraser, and see how well it works for smoothing my skin and evening out its tone.

ZENMED Skin Eraser

Another awesome product is the Skin Eraser, which is perfect for people like me who have a slightly uneven skin tone and some imperfections due to all the breakouts and ickiness I had over the winter. It is suggested to use this product after using the MIcrodermabrasion Complex (above), and, like the Microdermabrasion Complex, I have only used this a couple of times since my skin cleared up. This stuff is super promising (I keep saying this about ZENMED products, but it’s true), and, especially with prolonged use, it should erase away imperfections and just make your skin all-around better looking. I’m excited to start using this more over the next few weeks.

ZENMED Skin Eraser ($29.99 for 2 oz.; zenmed.com) is described as an “Ascorbic-Glycolic-Lactic acid fortified treatment” that “effectively exfoliates the upper layers of the skin” to help minimize imperfections, dullness, hyperpigmentation, discoloration, bumpiness, and fine lines and wrinkles. This product visibly helps perfect skin damage and unveils “brighter, healthier skin,” so your complexion will appear smoother and more even. If used with the Renewing Microdermabrasion Complex (above), the two products will give you an “instant home facial.”

I’m really excited to start using this product more now that my skin is back to normal. Like the Microdermabrasion Complex, this product can be a little harsh-feeling on skin (but not as much as the Microdermabrasion scrub), so use sparingly and work your way up to more consistent uses. ZENMED says that you may feel some tingling after using the Skin Eraser, so if this is bothersome, then the first few applications should be rinsed off until the skin becomes more accustomed to it.

It is highly suggested to use both this product and the MIcrodermabrasion Complex in the nighttime because it will make your skin a little more susceptible to sun irritation. Either way, if you’re using this product, it’s probably best to use an SPF the next day.

ZENMED Facial Cleansing Gel

This last product is one of the most gentle, smoothest feeling cleansers I have ever used. It just feels so amazing on my skin, and it effectively breaks up makeup, dirt, and whatever else that needs to be cleaned off at the end of a long day. This feels like an oil, but it’s not (it’s oil-free), and it doesn’t make your skin feel dried-out or dehydrated at all (even when my skin was extra dry this summer). It is ideal to use this stuff twice a day, especially for sensitive skin.

ZENMED Facial Cleansing Gel ($15 for 5 oz.; zenmed.com) is described as a “gentle, ph-balanced gel cleanser” that is “designed to be gentle to troubled skin.” This cleanser contains a naturally-based formulation of Certified Organic Aloe Vera Gel and Tea Tree that is “designed to remove oil, makeup, and unwanted residue from the surface of the skin while maintaining the skin’s natural protective barrier.” This product is great when used before any of ZENMED’s Acne treatment products, or even used alone. It feels SO smooth and gentle and wonderful on my skin, I love it. It is oil-free, alcohol-free, and “doctor-formulated to be gentle to sensitive skin or skin undergoing aesthetic treatments like peels and Acne medications.”

Overall, I really enjoyed these ZENMED products, I just feel like I still haven’t been able to try them out enough to really come to a definitive opinion on how well they work. Now that my skin has finally cleared up I will be using them a lot more, and I love the idea of doctor-formulated, medicinal products that contain natural ingredients.

So, like I said again and again in this post, these products are extremely promising. There is really something for everyone in ZENMED’s product catalog and I would urge people to check out their website to see everything that the brand has to offer. Check out ZENMED.com for all products listed in this post, or for more information on the company itself.

St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub

I’m so happy that I’m finally starting to get all my product reviews up and other posts besides just subscription box reviews. It takes a little bit of time to get back into the swing of blogging and developing a good variety of content, so I’m glad that I’m finally getting this whole blogging thing down. I just have SO much to write about and I have so many photos of dozens upon dozens of products to review that have been sitting on my hard drive for months, I didn’t even know where to start.

I just did a little drugstore shopping yesterday at Walgreen’s so I’m going to start with those most recent purchases (I didn’t want to do another haul post, so just individual reviews for the items I bought). I just ran out of my favorite facial scrub, the Blemish Control Apricot Scrub from St. Ives, so I immediately ran out to the store to get a new one.

I was using the regular St. Ives Apricot Scrub for years and then, about a year ago, my skin changed a little bit so I switched over to the Blemish Control version. I’m 26 right now, going to be 27 next month, and I had near-perfect skin pretty much my whole life, so I was pretty upset and shocked when I started breaking out seemingly out of nowhere.

I did a bunch of reading on it and it’s actually quite common for skin to change like this around your mid-20s, so I had to switch up my skin routine a bit. I don’t have, like, AWFUL skin now, not by any means, I just have never really had any breakouts before in my life so when I was suddenly hit with redness, dry patches and a few breakouts here and there I was pretty shocked.

This is what the scrub looks like — it’s easy to apply and pretty gentle for an exfoliating scrub.

The Blemish Control version of the St. Ives scrub seriously makes my skin near-perfect again and I notice a HUGE difference when I don’t use it for a few days. It’s pretty gentle for an exfoliating scrub and I usually use it every day or every other day and the suggested use on the tube is actually up to three times a day. I’ve been leaning more on the every-other-day side since my skin has been extra dry this season.

St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub ($3.51 for 6 oz.; drugstore.com) is described as “America’s #1 Scrub” which “gently cleans pores and helps stop breakouts before they occur.” It is formulated with “100% natural exfoliants,” it is paraben-, sulfate- and oil-free, it contains 2% salicylic acid to treat and prevent breakouts, it is dermatologist-tested and hypoallergenic with key ingredients of apricot, corn kernel meal and walnut.

This stuff is seriously my favorite drugstore product ever and I always get that deep-clean feeling after I use it. Plus, I usually find that most skincare products I try have little to no results for me and this scrub has given me serious, actual results for years.

St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub usually costs between $3 and $5 (and sometimes less), depending on the store. It is available at most drugstores and mass retailers that sell beauty and skincare products, or you can buy it online at Drugstore.com, CVS.com, Walgreens.com, and any other retailer that carries St. Ives skincare products. I had to make a quick mini-order at Sephora.com a few days ago to replace my much-used eyeshadow crease brush as I somehow lost mine and it’s one of those items that I use every single day — I was itching for the few days that I had to go without it. I ended up buying Hourglass’s Crease Brush and it works wonderfully. Then, of course, I added some other items that caught my eye to my online shopping cart (who can really only buy ONE thing at Sephora??), and this skincare set happened to be one of them.

I usually love the Sephora Favorites sets and I try to get them whenever a new one comes out (except for the perfumes — I have enough perfume samples from beauty boxes and through points prizes to last me well through the next 12 months, AT LEAST). I find that these kits far surpass their price as far as value goes; the products are usually great sizes (if not full-sized), and the items chosen are almost always the “best of the best” and work extremely well.

Sephora Favorites Skin Cleanse Vol. 2 Review and Photos. Photo copyright 2014 Sugarglow Blog: Makeup, skincare, hair products, reviews, subscription boxes, DIY, fashion and more. www.sugarglowbeauty.com.

This kit is no exception and it contained a bunch of products that I have never tried before (but have been meaning to try for awhile) and it’s really a great mix of products that cater to a very broad group of different skin types. I guess a variety kit like this would be kind of pointless if people couldn’t use a lot of the products in it because of their specific skin type, so Sephora did a great job at including a range of products for everyday skin concerns (it’s a very good combination-type skin kit) with formulas gentle enough for those with sensitivity issues.

The major selling point for me, besides the fact that I could definitely put every item in this kit to use, is that each one of these items is fantastically formulated without parabens or sulfates.

The Sephora Favorites Skin Cleanse Vol. 2 Set Contains:
– Boscia Luminizing Black Mask (0.7 oz.)
– Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner (0.25 oz.)
– Dr. Jart Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm SPF 25 (0.33 oz.)
– First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay (1 oz.)
– GLAMGLOW Super Mud Clearing Treatment (0.3 oz.)
– Kate Somerville Skincare ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment (0.5 oz.)
– Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 PA++ (0.33 oz.)
– Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Gel (0.5 oz.)
– Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel (0.5 oz.)

All these items came packed into a black makeup bag that’s big and durable enough to hold a ton of full-sized products (pictured above).

I love Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate Treatment and I actually just ran out of the tube (same size as this one — 0.5 oz.) that I received in a previous Sephora Favorites kit. This is actually a full-sized product, although it is the smallest size that you can buy it in. At $22 for 0.5 oz,, it is a bit pricey, but, if you want to try it out, then this is the size to try. If you happen to love it (and see noticeable results like I did), I would definitely splurge and go for the $85 2-oz. bottle. I personally don’t think it’s worth it to spend $175 on the even larger (5-oz.) size, especially because I wouldn’t use this product everyday, but hey, if you’re absolutely in love with it and have the extra cash to spend then you can own a whole 5-oz. tube of this stuff.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment (reg. $22-$175 for 0.5 oz.-5 oz.; sephora.com) is described as a “dual-action exfoliation method” that works both physically and enzymatically to deliver “safe, dramatic results in one application.” This treatment is meant to combat acne and blackheads, reduce discoloration and polish skin for a smooth complexion.

I don’t really know how to describe how my skin felt/looked after using this product other than all-around healthy. It contains Salicylic Acid to hydrate (without over-drying); microbeads and fruit enzymes to clear out pores, remove dead skin cells and eliminate bacteria; Rosewood and Cinnamon extracts to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; and Aloe Vera, honey and Vitamin E to smooth and soften skin. Kate Somerville also makes an ExfoliKate Gentle Exfoliating Treatment for more sensitive skin.

The next product is a black peel-off mask from Boscia. I own a similar mask from Julep (the Mask Noir) that I’ve hardly even tried since I got it, and I haven’t tried this Bosica mask yet either, so I have a feeling I’ll be putting one of them to use when I get home from class tonight.

Boscia Luminizing Black Mask (reg. $34 for 2.8 oz.; sephora.com) is described as a “groundbreaking, mineral-rich mask that peels off to deliver powerful detoxifying, purifying and brightening effects.” This mask is made with a “premier-quality clay,” with deep-cleansing properties that draw out dirt and oil. It is also formulated with other natural ingredients to exfoliate skin and refine pores, as well as powerful antioxidants that shrink pores, firm skin and reduce inflammation. You apply the mask to clean, dry skin in an even layer and leave it on for about 15-20 minutes until it’s completely dry. Once it’s dry, you peel the mask off, along with “dead skin, impurities and excess oil.”

Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Gel. Sephora Favorites Skin Cleanse Vol. 2 Review and Photos. Photo copyright 2014 Sugarglow Blog: Makeup, skincare, hair products, reviews, subscription boxes, DIY, fashion and more. www.sugarglowbeauty.com.

I love the way this eye gel looks and it definitely feels as good as it looks. Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Gel (reg. $38 for 1 oz.; sephora.com) is described as a “dual-action cooling gel to visibly firm and de-puff fatigued eyes while you sleep.” I love Ole Henriksen products and I find that they work very well and feel great on my skin, plus the blue gel of this product looks (and feels) super cool.

This “unique gel-mask” contains calming calendula and cucumber that wraps the eye area, while a “gravity-defying complex of peptides infused with arginine visibly lifts and contours.” It is supposed to reduce the appearance of fine lines while revitalizing and brightening the eye area. I have only used this gel once so far, but it definitely felt wonderful on my skin.

GLAMGLOW Super Mud Clearing Treatment and Murad Oil-Free Mattifier Lotion. Sephora Favorites Skin Cleanse Vol. 2 Review and Photos. Photo copyright 2014 Sugarglow Blog: Makeup, skincare, hair products, reviews, subscription boxes, DIY, fashion and more. www.sugarglowbeauty.com.

The main reason I bought this Sephora Favorites kit was really for the GLAMGLOW Clearing Treatment. Of course I wanted to try out the other products that were new to me, plus there were some old favorites of mine mixed in there, but, more than any other product in here, I have been meaning to try a GLAMGLOW treatment for awhile now, and I have read such great things about them across the whole beauty review spectrum.

I saw instant results with this product — and that’s saying a lot because I hardly ever see instant results with skincare products. I have my tried-and-true staple skincare products that I buy over and over again, and then dozens upon dozens of samples that I receive, and out of these samples that I try it’s honestly very rare that I find one that I absolutely love like this GLAMGLOW treatment. To me, this product is well worth the full-size price of $69 (I would even pay way more than that) and I will be buying it as soon as this sample (which you can get a bunch of uses out of) runs out.

GLAMGLOW Super Mud Clearing Treatment (reg. $69 for 1.2 oz.; sephora.com) is described as a “scientifically advanced SUPER-MUD clearing treatment to target, prevent and heal problem skin.” This formula was clinically developed by GLAMGLOW dermatological chemists to “help fight all common skin concerns including breakouts, discoloration, black and white heads, razor bumps and in-grown hair.”

You can actually see this stuff work in action: Dirt and congestion is drawn out by powerful, skin-clearing mud, and you will literally see GLAMGLOW’s “Pore Matrix” at work as it reveals dots of vacuum extractions. It is formulated with a “proprietary six-acid blend” to brighten and soften the skin, while “Activated-X Charcoal” magnetically draws out dirt and clears up pores. I have never seen such a noticeable difference in the look and feel of my skin so quickly after just one use of a product.

With all that being said, I guess the next product is a bit more boring (for lack of a better word?) in comparison to the GLAMGLOW treatment.

Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 PA++ (reg. $39.50 for 1.7 oz.; sephora.com) is described as a “shine-reducing moisturizer that controls oil for up to eight hours, decreases breakouts and protects skin.” My skin is a LOT more dry in the winter than it is during the rest of the year, and this cream felt almost more like a pore refiner than a moisturizer on my face, so I’m probably just going to leave this one in the bag until this dry-skin season is over (although my skin is never really “oily”). For those of you who do have more oily skin, this Murad moisturizer has been clinically proven to control oil for up to eight hours while effectively reducing breakouts, and it also regulates oil throughout the day.

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay and Dr. Jart Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm SPF 25 review and photos. Sephora Favorites Skin Cleanse Vol. 2 Review and Photos. Photo copyright 2014 Sugarglow Blog: Makeup, skincare, hair products, reviews, subscription boxes, DIY, fashion and more. www.sugarglowbeauty.com.

I wish there was at least one more daily cleanser in this kit, but this one from First Aid Beauty is pretty good and it comes in a great size (a 1-oz. tube) for lots of uses. I never used this cleanser before buying the Sephora Favorites Skin Cleanse set, and I’m always happy to try out new products. I can’t really say that I have seen crazy noticeable results, but I only used this cleanser twice so far and both times I was just in too much of a rush (as per usual) to really take in the results.

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay (reg. $24 for 4.7 oz.; sephora.com) is a gel facial cleanser meant to “detox, cleanse and unclog pores.” This foaming cleanser is formulated with a “powerful combination of red clay, rosemary leaf oil and botanical antioxidants” to remove excess oils, unclog pores and purify the skin.

This product is also formulated with clay, which is the magic ingredient that draws out toxins on the skin, while controlling outbreaks and even reducing the size of pores. This product is “perfect for anyone with problem-prone, combination, or oily skin or as a deep treatment cleanse for normal skin.” It really is an all-star cleanser for every skin type and it also does a good job at removing makeup.

The next product is Dr. Jart’s famous BB Cream. I have heard wonderful things about this BB Cream, but, like many of the other BB Creams on the market, this one just isn’t for me. This product is a true BB Cream, made in Korea, and it is way more in tune with the original Asian BB Creams than it is with some of their newer American counterparts. Personally, I love Too Faced’s Tinted Beauty Balm because of its moisturizing and “glowing” properties (and the fact that it comes in a range of shades); the original BB Creams, on the other hand, are more like what you would see in Dr. Jart’s formula.

Dr. Jart Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm (reg. $36 for 1.5 oz.; sephora.com) is described as a “purifying face cream that provides age defense, and hides uneven skintone and blemishes.” This “botanical formula” is formulated to “purify and calm blemish-prone or sensitive skin while also combating dark spots and pollutants for an enhanced radiance.” It comes in one universal shade and features SPF 25 sun protection.

As I said before, this is more of an “original” Beauty Balm, and actually made in Korea where the Beauty Balm craze originated (along with Japan), and pretty different than some of the American BB Creams that have been recently over-saturating the beauty market. I found this cream to have a matte-like feeling/texture, and while it is great for those with blemish-prone, oily skin, it might not be as great for people like me who have drier skin, especially in the winter time. Either way, this product has received rave reviews across the board, and if you want to try out a *REAL* BB Cream, I would definitely check this one out.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner and Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel. Sephora Favorites Skin Cleanse Vol. 2 Review and Photos. Photo copyright 2014 Sugarglow Blog: Makeup, skincare, hair products, reviews, subscription boxes, DIY, fashion and more. www.sugarglowbeauty.com.

I kinda dropped the ball on the photo for these two — it was sooo late (3am maybe??) and I just wanted to get all the photos done so I could get this post up. Please, please excuse the poor photo quality!

To round up the Sephora Favorites Skin Cleanse Vol. 2 set, Sephora included a pore refiner with serious results, and a firming, peeling gel to unveil a fresher, smoother complexion.

Dr. Brandt Skincare Pores No More Pore Refiner (reg. $45 for 1 oz.; sephora.com) is described as an “instantly effective, mattifying pore refiner” that “smooths and evens the skin’s texture, providing a matte finish with or without makeup.” It is formulated with infusions of microspheres and flaxseed to “effectively shrink pores, absorb oil and keep shine at bay.” I only tried this out once so far and I used it on my nose where my pores tend to be more visible, and it worked very well — I loved the silky feeling of this product.

What’s so great about it is that you can re-apply it throughout the day “as necessary” over makeup for a quick touch-up (although I wouldn’t necessarily re-apply it over the entire face, as that will probably mess up any blush/bronzer/highlighter application you got going on). This pore refiner can also be used as an “excellent makeup primer,” and I’m going to try it out as a primer today, especially after already witnessing how silky this stuff feels, and how it really did smooth out the skin around my nose area (where I tested it out).

The last product in this set is the Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel (reg. $48 for 3.4 oz.; sephora.com). I haven’t used this gel yet, but I find that Peter Thomas Roth skincare products always work very well, and this specific product received a nearly 5-star review on Sephora.com. It is described as a “peeling gel that visibly rolls, lifts and sweeps away dead skin cells when massaged onto skin.”

This peeling gel is formulated with multi-action enzymes (pineapple, pomegranate and keratinase) and cellulose, to “effectively peel and help uncover a smooth, fresh, new complexion without drying, irritating or causing undue stress to skin.” This product will also remove impurities and unclog pores for a “youthful, radiant look.”
