I seem to be stuck a week behind with these weekly planner posts, so I wanted to make sure it’s clear that this setup was for last week, Week 46 (November 9-15). I’m going to try really super hard to get the post up for this week’s planner setup sometime over the next couple of days so that I’m back on track and no longer lagging seven days behind!
I had a few stickers left over from decorating my planner for Halloween last month, so I decided to use whatever I could for my November pages, giving them a bit of a fall-inspired “theme.” I can’t believe we are coming to the end of 2015! I’m not trying to rush it or anything, but I’m super excited to deck out my December pages next month for Christmas.
I am really, really, really trying to get into the habit of blogging and have a better flow … I really want to try to get at least one post up every day. Or a couple of posts every other day, something like that. It’s not as easy as I first thought! There’s a lot of work that goes into this blogging business, and I have huge respect for all of the dedicated bloggers out there, perhaps even more so now. Either way, I love blogging and I really intend to make this work. 🙂
I am in love with everything fall — from the food to the fashions, the changing of the leaves and, of course, the end of summer humidity in New York (so my hair finally gets a break). My absolute favorite part of the fall, though, is my favorite holiday — HALLOWEEN! — which just happens to be in my favorite month, October 🙂
So I just had to deck out my October planner pages in all of the best Halloween stickers and tape I could find. I have lots of leftover Halloween planner decor, which is great because I can use them to decorate my weekly planner view over the next two weeks in anticipation of the best holiday ever.
Of course I had to buy Hello Kitty Halloween stickers, because my monthly planner pages wouldn’t be complete without them. Target always has different Hello Kitty stickers for most of the holidays, so I knew they would have cute ones for Halloween. I picked these up in the greeting cards section at Target. I’m sure there are a bunch of other versions out there, especially online, but these were the first ones I found and I thought they were pretty adorable.
The sticker with the bats flying over the moon is from the Sticko Vellum Halloween Boo Stickers ($1.49) that I got at Michael’s. These are available in store only, but you can check out what the whole sticker sheet looks like here.
The witch’s hat, broom and the witch flying over an iridescent moon are all from the Jolee’s Boutique witch stickers set. The candy corn is from the Sticko set.
I use the Kikki K Wooden Alphabet Stamp Set ($19.95; kikki-k.com) to write down the month and the year on my monthly planner pages. I like how this looks way better than my own handwriting. I guess stickers could also get the job done (neatly), but these stamps just make everything look slightly more official 🙂
This thick spiderweb tape is part of the Heidi Swapp Marquee Love line — I originally bought it to use with a Halloween marquee DIY project (which I will write up a post about this weekend), but I also thought it would be perfect for the bottom part of my October planner pages. This specific tape isn’t available online, but it should still be in stores. You can check out other Heidi Swapp Marquee Love tapes at the Michael’s website.
The cauldron sticker is part of the same Jolee’s Boutique witch stickers set and the Happy Halloween sign is from the Jolee’s Boutique Vintage Halloween Banner sticker set, which I also got from Michael’s ($1.99; michaels.com).
In this last photo are more stickers from both the Jolee’s witch set and the Sticko Halloween Boo stickers set. The washi tape that I used in the middle of the pages are:
1). Orange half-circle shapes tape from Michael’s (I think it was their Recollections brand) — I found this roll with the Halloween decor.
2). Black glitter tape from Scotch (available at Target, Staples, etc.).
Stay tuned for more planner decorating for Halloween over the next two weeks 🙂 Thanks for reading!
I really have had so much going on IRL the last few weeks, but I have officially made a blogging schedule and I plan on sticking to it! Lots of subscription boxes, product reviews and photos and DIY goodies to come this weekend 🙂
Week 42: October 12-18, 2015
This is how I decorated my Kikki K lilac personal planner for this week. The first photo shows the weekly view with my bookmarks and quote card; this photo (directly above) shows the weekly view without those things in the way — not much of a difference. The quote card was part of the Kikki K Be Brave Planner Dashboard Kit ($19.95; kikki-k.com), along with some of the larger stickers that I used, as well as the butterfly cutout at the top of the left page. I am obsessed with Kikki K and I love decorating my planner and doing other DIY projects with the endless amounts of stationary goodies that they have available.
Here is a better close-up of the butterfly cutout that I was talking about before. The planner kit also comes with bird cutouts which are also really cute. The little blue tag is a gift tag which is part of Kikki K’s Be Brave DIY Sticker Book ($19.95; kikki-k.com). I would say I do about 75% of my planner decorating with various DIY sticker books from Kikki K — they come with tons of awesome stickers in all different shapes and sizes, as well as sticker tags (like to/froms to put on presents), border stickers and these paper gift tags that you can use for a bunch of different purposes.
The gold cutout heart is from a random gold hearts and stars sticker sheet that I think I got at Target or Michael’s (both of which always have tons of awesome planner decorating goodies).
I’m so in love with these little owl sticky notes, which I also used in my monthly planner decoration for September. I picked them up on a random trip to Barnes & Noble last month, and they are also available on the Barnes & Noble website: Owls Page Mates ($3.95 for 180 page markers in six different colors; barnesandnoble.com). I use these everywhere — my planner, my daily diary, as page markers in the books I’m reading, etc. They’re adorable and super useful 😀
I also wanted to get a better photo of the stickers in the bottom right corner of this photo — the puffy ice cream pop stickers. I’ll get a better photo when I use more of them in my weekly decoration next week. But anyway, these are currently my absolute favorite stickers — they are super cute and puffy (which makes them even cuter).
These are the (appropriately named) Cute Soft Stickers from Kikki K ($3.95 for two sheets; kikki-k.com) and there are over 80 different stickers, including yummy foods, hearts, the sun, sailboats, cutesy animals and more. I just got another set of these stickers for free from Kikki K, which made me a very happy planning girl!
This last photo just shows some more stickers from the Kikki K Be Brave DIY Sticker Book ($19.95; kikki-k.com). The washi tape I used this week comes from:
1). Peach-colored tape at the top: Target’s $1 section
2). Gold glitter tape: Scotch brand, from Target, Staples, etc.
3). Light gray-blue with white dots: Michael’s
4). Gold chevron print: Kikki K (this particular tape is discontinued)
Next post will be how I decorated my monthly planner view for October. I should also be getting that one up tonight. Thanks for reading!
This decorated weekly view is two weeks old now, but I really couldn’t NOT post it because it’s one of my absolute favorites. Just to be clear, this is the weekly planner view that I decorated for the week of September 7th – 13th (Week 37). I’m in the process of taking photos of my planner for this week so I will be posting the decorated Week 39 pages tomorrow 🙂
Weekly view for Week 37: Sept. 7-13
I use a Kikki K leather personal planner, which is probably my absolute favorite material item that I own (besides my laptop, of course). I do eventually plan on writing a blog post on how I set up and decorate my planner (the whole thing), but, for now, I am going to write at least one planner post per week. And that works very well since I decorate a new weekly calendar view every week!
I loved my Week 37 setup so much mostly because I was able to use these super adorable Sailor Saturn sticky notes that I found randomly at a comic book store a few weeks ago. It looks like the company that makes them (Sun Star Stationery) came out with a bunch of different Sailor Moon stationery items a couple years ago (in 2013) in celebration of Sailor Moon’s 20th anniversary. I tried desperately to find more stationery items online and I really can’t find much except for some items on Amazon and Ebay.
Super cute Sailor Saturn sticky notes from Sun Star Stationery
I’m thinking comic book stores (or something similar) might be the best bet to get surprised with awesome finds like this one, so I am definitely going to keep looking. Etsy also has a good amount of random Sailor Moon-themed stationery (among many other items) so I think I’m going to grab a few things on my next Etsy binge/haul.
Since I made my Week 37 planner decoration into a purple/blue/turquoise color scheme to match the Sailor Saturn sticky notes, I was also able to use these new purple sticky notes that I found randomly at TJ Maxx a couple weeks ago.
Purple sticky note “book” + Sailor Saturn sticky notes, both used in my Week 37 decorated pages
The purple sticky note book is made by Eccolo, an Italian stationery company, but I can’t find this set anywhere on their website. I got it for $3.99 (or maybe $4.99) at TJ Maxx; I always seem to find cool stationery items there, as well as Marshall’s and Home Goods.
The purple sticky note book came with a large (non-sticky) notepad (on the left) which is perfect for adding to my planner pages with a paper clip. The pages are big enough that I can even punch holes in them and add them to my planner rings. Then there are four white flag-like sticky notes in two different designs — I like to trim these down and use them on my monthly calendar, or use them as is anywhere else in my planner. The last sticky note pad is the cute purple one at the bottom which I can use pretty much anywhere to write down anything. I really love this set, I’m so glad I found it!
I added these turquoise and white tags on the bottom of my Week 37 pages because they matched my purple/blue/turquoise scheme quite well. These tags are from the Kikki K Cute Paper Lover’s Book ($29.95). This book is packed with a bunch of stationery goodies like pretty paper, envelopes, DIY projects, stickers, tags and even wrapping paper. I think I’m going to do a review post on the Paper Lover’s Book sometime this week.
These adorable puffy stickers are also from Kikki K — Soft Stickers 2PK: Cute ($3.95). I bought the stickers myself a few weeks ago and then I just got another pack (each pack comes with two sheets) for free as part of my Kikki K daily diary September gift. Each month Kikki K has a free gift for Kikki K diary owners and this was definitely my favorite freebie so far because I love these stickers so much! I will be sort of reviewing them (or at least showing more photos of them) in my Kikki K haul post that I’ll get up later in the week.
That’s it for my Week 37 planner post. I will have the most current week — Week 39 — all decorated and blogged about tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
I know it’s been a really long time since I’ve posted anything but I couldn’t believe that my last post was all the way back in March — months and months ago. Needless to say, I’ve had a lot going on, but I’m back and I thought the perfect first post would be a Happy September post on how I setup my planner for the month. I was actually planning on getting this post up over a week ago, but I am really glad I finally got it done and now I can get back into the swing of blogging 🙂
I use a Kikki K lilac personal planner, which I absolutely adore. If anyone is interested I just wanted to note that the lilac version is discontinued but there are a bunch of other lovely color options, plus new planners that are added all the time. I also use a lot of their stickers and other products for decorating my planner. You can check out all of the sweet stationery goodies over at the Kikki K website.
There is a better photo of the owl sticky notes, plus info on where to get them, below.
The quote card is also part of the Kikki K Be Brave Planner Starter Kit. I just realized that pretty much everything I used to decorate my September calendar is from Kikki K (except those owl sticky flags). I have a Kikki K haul post that I will write up sometime over the next couple of days so I can go into more detail about some of my most recent stationery purchases.
These cute puffy cupcake stickers are actually from Michael’s — they are awesome and probably one of my favorite sticker sets. The only downside is that the pack didn’t come with that many in it, so I’m probably going to pick up some more on my next Michael’s trip.
The last decorative piece to my September 2015 calendar are these adorable little owl sticky flags that I found at Barnes & Noble. They are so perfect for many uses — like marking a page, making a little note on my calendar, marking something with the arrow of the note, etc. — and this pack came with 180 sticky markers so it will be awhile before I run out of them. They also come in six different colors and they were pretty cheap — only $3.95 at Barnes & Noble. You can click this link to buy them online.
I love decorating and organizing with my planner so I will be updating at least once every week with a new weekly view and, of course, once a month with each new month. Thanks for reading!
