Mint Green Love

1). Marc by Marc Jacobs Crossbody Classic Q Natasha Handbag ($368; bloomingdales.com): Super cute, crossbody bag. I cannot waittttt to get this for myself. I love Marc by Marc Jacobs handbags and this color is way too amazing to pass up.

2). Smashbox Always Sharp 3D Liner in 3D Pacific ($20 for 0.01 oz.; sephora.com): I actually don’t have this liner, but I need to pick it up. I love Smashbox’s Always Sharp 3D liners (they’re one of the best), and this color is the perfect mint green — It’s described as a “seafoam mint green.”

3). J. Crew Patent Narrow-Buckle Belt in Pale Mint ($34.50, on sale from $39.50; jcrew.com): A cute, skinny, leather belt that can add a sweet pop of color to an outfit.

4). Mint Green Ceramic Pottery Heart Dish by DarriellesClayArt Shop on Etsy ($14; etsy.com): The store Darrielle’s Clay Art on Etsy has some beautiful ceramic pottery dishes in mint green (as well as other colors) that can be used in a bunch of different ways. This one would be great for jewelry, candles or any other small items.

5). ZOYA Nail Polish in Dillon ($9 for 0.5 oz.; zoya.com): A pretty, full-coverage green mint metallic nail polish with silver shimmer in ZOYA’s wonderful “5-Free” formula.

6). Mint Scalloped Jar ($12.99; worldmarket.com): This super cute mint-colored jar would look great in the kitchen, bedroom and even the bathroom.

7). Kendra Scott Rosemary Floral Earrings in Mint ($77; laylagrayce.com): Beautiful gold metal earrings with natural seafoam magnesite gemstones.

Yayyy spring is here and, even though we still have had a few whacky, cold snow days here in New York, the weather has generally been getting warmer and yesterday was especially beautiful! I feel like springtime comes sooo slowly and when it’s finally here we only have about a month (sometimes even less) of actual “spring” weather before the hot days of summer arrive.

With the beautiful spring weather comes my birthday (yippeee!) in April, and, the best part, is a change in wardrobe with all the pretty spring colors that adorn everything from fashion and accessories to makeup, housewares and decorations. I love spring colors and one of my favorites is this pretty mint green.

The mint Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag (above) is what inspired this post, since that is exactly what I want for my birthday (from my wonderful mom). I tried to keep this post as short and sweet as possible — you can click any of the links next to the product names above for more information 🙂

Yayyy I am finally able to get the photos and review up for this awesomely pretty and super cute nail art kit from Nails Inc. I bought this kit a few weeks ago when I made an order on Sephora.com because I noticed it was on sale (and it still is, for just $13.00, down from $25).

I love the 3D nail trend but I can never really find a salon that can do it for me (I know I just have to look harder) and I find that a lot of these “3D manicures” look kinda gaudy, and borderline ridiculous, so I was thrilled to find a 3D nail art set that came with such cute/fashionable/appropriately-sized flower and bow decorations.

The photos I took for this post aren’t the greatest — my nails are not in great shape (I’m planning on using my nail salon gift certificate next week to get my nails shaped up and pretty again), plus I am kind of a mess when it comes to crazy glue, so you can see some of the glue stuck to my nail polish and around my nails. I just wanted to get this post up quickly because the product might get sold out (or, worse, be discontinued, as is the fate of many “on sale” products), so I hope that I at least got the point across at how cute the little camellia roses and bow decorations are.

Nails Inc. Bling It On Floral ($13 on sale, regularly $25 for set; sephora.com) is described as a “floral nail kit with trendy shades, pearl bows and white camellia embellishments.” This set came with two pretty, very springtime, pastel colors: Holland Park Gardens, an “on-trend sage green,” and Bloomsbury Way, a “delicately feminine cherry blossom pink.”

I really should have taken photos of my nails painted in both colors in the set but, instead, I used a photo of Holland Park Gardens (above and below) as well as a color that wasn’t included in the set (it’s definitely a Julep color, I am just too lazy to look up which one it is right now).

Pearl bows on the left and white camellias on the right

This set comes with eight white camellia and four pearl bow embellishments, which can be re-used as long as you do a little prep work and try to get all of the super glue off with some nail polish remover, if you can. I have been using them with a bunch of different colors I have at home, including the two shades that came in the kit (which are very pretty).

The whole set contains:
– 1 0.13-oz. Nail Polish in Holland Park Gardens (sage green)
– 1 0.13-oz. Nail Polish in Bloomsbury Way (light pink)
– 4 Bow embellishments
– 8 Flower embellishments
– 1 0.1-oz. Nail glue
– 2 Wooden cuticle sticks

Basically, you paint your nails with two coats of polish, apply a top coat and then let your nails dry for at least five minutes. To apply the embellishments, use a tweezer to pick them up and apply nail glue to the back of the flower or bow, and also apply glue in the shape of the embellishment directly to your nail. Press and hold it there for at least 60 seconds. If you need to get extra glue under the edges of the bow decoration then use the cuticle pusher to apply it after the embellishment has already been put in place on your nail.

I bought this kit with not-too-high expectations because any type of manicure I give myself never really lasts, and any of these nail trends, whether they be 3D nail art, texturized nail polish, or anything else, never really works the way I want it to. I really thought I would lose any embellishments that I put on my nails on the first day, but I am very, very happy to say that I haven’t lost any of them yet at all (not even one!).

These things stay on amazingly well, just take a little bit of extra care with your nails and they will stay on for days. The only time one of the flowers came off was when I knocked my hand into my wall (I’m really clumsy) and it was in the exact spot that the embellishment was sticking out on my nail; I realized this right away, of course, so I was able to salvage the flower. Other than that, they’ve stayed on great — through showers, sleeping, getting dressed in the morning, brushing snow off my car. The nail glue they give you is serious stuff.

Here are the embellishments on a Julep color (I think the color is discontinued). You can clearly see the glue on this one, wish I took a better photo.
